Stranger Things is a frightening, violent, and emotional sci-fi thriller about a terrifying creature preying on children, but at its core, it's a story about courage and camaraderie that's entertaining to watch. Having said that, it's certainly aimed towards a teen audience, especially older tweens. It's full of intense scenes of violence and horror, so if you're not used to such things then I'd recommend you wait until you are before watching this movie.
Specifically, the main characters are all around the age of 11 so yes you can watch this movie if you're 11 too. However, some aspects may be difficult for younger viewers to understand (such as body language) so I'd avoid letting anyone under 13 watch it. The makers of Stranger Things have also suggested that parents should only let children watch the first episode because of some scary scenes that might disturb them.
However, this doesn't mean that kids shouldn't be allowed to watch other movies with much darker themes. For example, 12 Years A Slave is a true story about slavery that some people find upsetting but it's still worth seeing. So overall, the question "can 11-year olds watch Stranger Things?" is definitely able to be answered yes.
While Stranger Things is a program about kids, it may not be appropriate for all children. Stranger Things has a TV-14 rating, which implies that some of the content may be inappropriate for children under the age of 14. Stranger Things' initial season was far less upsetting than the second and third seasons. Although the characters do experience some very traumatic events, these episodes are rated E for everyone. If you're younger than that, don't worry about missing anything important.
If you're at least 14 but under 18, you can find out if your local cable provider offers Netflix. If so, you can use your Cable Account Number as your login ID when you sign up for an account on their website. Otherwise, you can go to www.netflix.com and create an account using a valid email address and a password of your choice. Thereafter, you can log in to your new account to see if Stranger Things is available in your area. The first episode is usually shown as a trial run before making the series available to all users.
The show's creators have said that they wanted to make a movie that would appeal to older viewers but still speak to younger people too. So even though Stranger Things is set in Indiana, it has connections to other famous stories such as The Goonies, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, It, and E.T..
Stranger Things is acceptable for 12-year-olds, however there are certain disturbing situations and moments that a child under 15 would not comprehend, such as Jonathan and Nancy's "how was the pullout?" scene. Younger children might find some of the language used in the show (such as "totally rad" and "so hot") confusing and upsetting.
Furthermore, due to the dark subject matter and intense scenes of violence and death, it's important that kids understand that Stranger Things is not for them. Parents should help their children understand what the show is about so they don't feel uncomfortable watching certain episodes.
Finally, there are several references in the show to drink containers that contain carbonated beverages. Given that many young people consume these products daily, it's important that they be introduced properly into the body through the digestive system. Therefore, parents should make sure that their children follow safe drinking practices when watching Stranger Things.
Stranger Things has a strong Stephen King flavor to it. Stranger Things and many of King's finest books have intriguing aspects such as creatures, children's perseverance, troublesome individuals possessed by bad powers, and epic conflicts between good and evil.
Good characters are important to any story but especially true for horror or thriller stories. The characters in these types of stories tend to be either heroes or villains. Both the heroes and villains must have depth otherwise the story becomes pointless. Stranger Things has several characters that I find interesting. There is Eleven, who according to her biography, was kidnapped when she was eleven years old. She was taken away from her family against their will. This character shows that youth is not a protection from danger and that everyone can be abducted at any time. Also, there is Mike, who despite being a high school student, is an expert on monsters and the occult. Then there is Will, who along with Mike, is one of only two adults that knows about Eleven. Lastly, there is Bob, who is Mike's familiar. He first appears in the series when Mike sees a box with his name on it inside of the lab where they work. Although he doesn't do much else other than follow Mike around, he is still a valuable character because he gives Mike advice and help whenever he can.
In conclusion, I think Stranger Things is a great show because of its intriguing characters and plot.
