Hello guys welcome to Shannonwrightmusic today in this article we are talking about Nothing Phone 1 Design Mimicked by Dbrand’s “Something” Skin. Nothing has launched its unique designed smartphone named Phone 1, but this design is now not only limited to it. You can also take its feel on Samsung, Apple, and Google’s smartphones.

You have to give it to Dbrand; the company knows how to generate interest in its products, even if it has to ride the back of other trending events. With impeccable timing, the company has announced a new set of smartphone skins called “Something.” The new design is a play on Carl Pei’s Nothing brand aesthetic, which recently launched its Phone 1 to market.

Dbrand sent me the Something skin for the Pixel 6 Pro and a Grip case with the Something skin on it. Both look absolutely fantastic and give a good look of a stylized version of the internals of the device.

It has all of the major pieces of hardware from the Pixel 6 Pro but is bleached and on display. This design focuses a lot on the wireless charging coil while adding accents to the aluminum body around the device.

The completely new brand Nothing has made its first smartphone with a Glyph interface and a transparent back panel that shows its interior techy stuff with a mixup of shades.

And controversial Dbrand has released “Something” named skin, which allows users to make their selected smartphone look like Nothing Phone 1, but without these glowing LEDs.

The special-edition skin is currently only available for the iPhone 13 Pro Max, Pixel 6 Pro, and Samsung S22 Ultra, but the company told The Verge that other versions will follow.

The Something skins are only available in the white colorway, unlike the Nothing Phone (1) which also has a black colorway. The black color in a style like this is probably not going to be as striking as the white one.

You can buy the skin or grip-case here. Of course, if you want the look without the skin, you can always use iFixit’s teardown wallpapers instead.

The other notable feature of the rear of the Nothing Phone is a series of LED lightstrips, which the company calls the Glyph interface. Different patterns correspond to different ring tones and notification sounds, with other uses, too.

The company has also released a case with the same design, but it contains a different side grip which comes with extra protection. Besides, Something’s skin and cases’s design is not exact as Phone 1.

This skin & cover are available for the iPhone 13 Pro Max, Google Pixel 6 Pro, and Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra. The skin costs around $25, and the grip case is priced at $20.

Besides all these details, there is an issue that Nothing can sue the company for copying their design, and Dbrand has already faced some issues with Sony regarding the same kind of matter.

On the official website, the company mentioned that “PLAGIARISM IS NOT A CRIME” and detailed their effort while making it, and said “everyone wants it, so we did it” by saying sorry to Nothing’s CEO Carl Pei.

Currently, there are two Android phones dbrand is making Something skins for – the Galaxy S22 Ultra and Pixel 6 Pro. Both skins are based off the dbrand teardown skins and then customized to match the Nothing design language. Each skin takes about a week to edit down to this minimal and stylized look.

The Ear 1 and Phone 1 have both shown off designs that are fresh and infectious, which is evidenced not only by consumer interest but also interest from companies like Dbrand.

It will be interesting to see how Carl Pei and Nothing react. But, Dbrand has never been one to shy away from controversy. Instead, it has always met it head-on, even if it means it has to take on industry giants like Sony.

The Something skins are also available for the iPhone 13 Pro Max and MagSafe charging puck. dbrand says they are working on Something skins for the Nintendo Switch and Steam Deck as well but no concrete date on when those will be available.

They are also going to be keeping an eye on the request form to see if there is enough interest in other devices to make designing skins worthwhile.

And apart from everything, it is good for the US market because Nothing Phone 1 has not been released in the US, and with this skin, they can at least get the feel of Phone 1.
